Nordic Walking is a form of physical activity that originated in the early 1930s in Finland, where it was a post-season training method for cross-country skiers. Walking with poles helped to maintain the training effects of athletes during the summer and realize their preparation for the winter season. The dynamic development of Nordic Walking in recreational form took place in the 1980s and 1990s in Scandinavian countries, where activities involving the use of skis, ski poles, were an integral part of life and physical culture. In the past 10 years, this activity has crossed the borders of Scandinavia and began to be present throughout Europe (primarily Germany,Australia, Switzerland, Features, Slovakia and Poland) and North America. Today, it is a field of mass sport and recreation. The most important benefits of Nordic Walking are: the stimulation of more muscle groups than during ordinary walking activity and the associated increased energy expenditure, improvement of overall joint fitness of the upper and lower body, the possibility of transferring technical skills to everyday life, and a positive impact on the psyche. In addition, marching with poles is an activity aimed at everyone regardless of fitness level, gender and age.
