Effect of Nordic Walking on quality of life in overweight people with type 2 diabetes

Baseline health-related quality of life in this study group was similar or better than in the age- and sex-matched Swedish population. Sleep quality and BMI improved in participants with normal glucose tolerance after 4 months of Nordic walking, with little or no musculoskeletal pain compared with control subjects. There was no correlation between improved sleep quality and improved BMI.
Sleep quality improved in the group with normal glucose tolerance after 4 months of Nordic Walking. BMI reduction did not account for this improvement. Nordic walking can be introduced in primary care as a low-cost exercise modality that promotes weight loss and improved health satisfaction.
