Nordic walking and well-being: socio-ecological perspective

5 Apr 2025

This doctoral research investigates the relationship between regular participation in Nordic Walking and mental well-being, applying a socio-ecological framework. While previous studies have extensively documented the physical benefits of Nordic Walking, this study addresses a critical gap in the literature by focusing on its psychological impact. Combining surveys and interviews conducted in the UK and Finland, the research examines both individual experiences and broader social and environmental factors that influence engagement in Nordic Walking. Findings aim to provide scientific evidence of well-being improvement through this accessible, low-barrier physical activity and to identify facilitators and barriers within local communities.
