Effects of Nordic walking and walking on spatiotemporal gait parameters and ground reaction force

 This study compared the effects of Nordic Walking and regular walking on spatiotemporal gait parameters and ground reaction forces in young men. Using a motion capture system and force plates, researchers observed that Nordic Walking significantly increased cadence, stride length, and step length, while reducing stride time, step time, and the mid-stance ground reaction force. It also redistributed weight more effectively by engaging the upper body, resulting in lower limb load reduction. These findings highlight Nordic Walking as a dynamic, efficient, and joint-friendly exercise—beneficial for both healthy individuals and those with gait limitations.
