🥢"Each day is a series of conflicts between the right way and the easy way" 🏆And what's your way?

Meet the true story of Karol Abel from Poland 🇵🇱, a top competitor in the ONWF World Nordic Walking League. It's hard to believe that just two years ago he underwent severe back surgery and the prospect of spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair was very real. - "I was cured by my persistence and passion for Nordic walking," he admits.

It all started with the first numbness of the legs. Then it only got worse - loss of balance, loss of stability, until there came the moment of complete lack of feeling of legs. The whole world stood on its head, one person was most worried about my wife- Gosia. After a visit to a neurosurgeon, I found out the cause is hernias. It took me a long time to make a decision. Thoughts of a wheelchair did not give me peace. The day of surgery came, stress nerves.... I woke up and the first thing I touched was my toes with my feet, is there feeling? There was! I was already thinking only about the bike, but I had to wait a long time , very calm and intense rehabilitation. After three months I got on the bike and a quiet ride. After six months, my friend Maciej mentioned walking with poles, I laughed at him, but I went. And it happened. I noticed that it helps me a lot for my mood and fitness. Nordic walking, I must admit, has positively covered my eyes for a bike. I started walking with sticks. After a month I was invited by the club to a competition in Pleszewo, and it began. Unexpectedly I was 2nd at 10km. I made a decision to walk longer distances (21km) because it brings me fun and joy. Although I sometimes suffer from pain in the place where I had surgery, I walk, I can compete with non-disabled people, although hardly anyone knows that I am disabled. It doesn't bother me. Although I sometimes lose, I often manage to stand on the podium of the 50+ category. And the ONWF ranking builds me up to continue the fight for health, no matter the points, the important thing is that I walk and enjoy Nordic walking!

Karol you are our true hero! Congratulations on choosing the right way and may your story motivate as many people as possible to join the Nordic Walking family :)
