The effects of Nordic and general walking on depression disorder patients’ depression, sleep, and body composition
29 Mar 2025
Older people suffering from depression were studied. Twenty-four patients diagnosed with depression were selected and randomly allocated to two groups. One group practised Nordic Walking, while the other control group did classic walking. One and the other exercised for 50 minutes a day, three times a week for eight weeks. After this period, an analysis and comparison of the two groups was performed. The results suggest that NW has a positive effect on depression and sleep disorders in older people, suggesting that exercise programmes should be developed for older people suffering from depression or sleep disorders.
