Nordic Walking, a therapeutic modality against cancer related fatigue

5 Apr 2025

This article explores Nordic Walking (NW) as a non-pharmacological therapeutic intervention for managing cancer-related fatigue (CRF), one of the most common and debilitating symptoms experienced by cancer patients and survivors. The author presents evidence supporting NW’s physiological benefits—such as improved oxygen consumption, cardiovascular performance, and muscle engagement—and psychological advantages, including reduced stress and greater adherence due to its low perceived effort. Unlike traditional aerobic exercises, NW distributes physical load across both upper and lower limbs, allowing for a more balanced and accessible workout. The paper also highlights NW’s potential to improve quality of life and promote long-term health behavior changes in oncology populations.
