GROUND REACTION FORCES IN NORDIC WALKING AND WALKING
22 Aug 2024
Nordic Walking promotes an increase in GRF and speed compared to walking, regardless of technique. Regarding GRF, no evidence supports the use of one technique or the other, as there is a similar biomechanical relationship.
Although GRFs are higher in NW than in W, these results may be of interest when prescribing exercise for the prevention of various diseases such as osteoporosis, as NW allows higher speeds than W, with a similar metabolic cost to running, but without achieving a high GRF when running.
