The results of the present study indicate that, compared to regular walking, Nordic walking with poles can prevent damage to the joints of the lower extremities and relatively reduce stress on the knee joints. Unlike regular walking exercises, Nordic Walking exercises walk after mobilizing all the muscles in the upper and lower extremities as the poles are used, and therefore show higher oxygen consumption by the body compared to regular walking. Bumgardner said Nordic Walking can easily increase heart minute capacity and heart rate without increasing exercise fatigue, thus increasing the effects of exercise. Church reported that when adult men and women were instructed to walk 1 mile and measured their oxygen consumption during exercise, Nordic walking exercises showed higher oxygen consumption. He also reported that compared to regular walking, Nordic Walking allows people to walk faster. Nordic walking exercises are aerobic exercises that can increase muscle mass even when performed only, so muscle strength can be improved, and the poles can play the role of support to improve stability. According to Kim and Shim, the use of Nordic poles can enable exercise similar to normal walking and provide positive effects of foot pressure distribution during walking. According to Shim, compared to walking without Nordic poles, walking with Nordic poles increases stride length and time from heel contact to
