Nordic Walking through cancer. An exercise prescription model to improve survivorship
5 Apr 2025
This article presents a multidisciplinary exercise prescription model using Nordic Walking to support cancer survivors in their recovery and long-term health. Based on a literature review and existing evidence, the authors argue that Nordic Walking offers significant advantages: it is low in perceived exertion, easy to learn, encourages adherence, and retains correct walking biomechanics. These features make it particularly suitable for individuals facing barriers to traditional exercise post-treatment. The model promotes supervised and independent participation, physical activity education, and patient empowerment. Nordic Walking emerges as a promising non-pharmacological tool to improve functional capacity, well-being, and lifestyle sustainability in cancer survivorship.
